Clinical Trial Matching

Clinical Trial Matching is an AI-powered enterprise tool that evaluates patient records against internal and external clinical trial repositories, including ClinicalTrials.gov. Designed for integration across major U.S. medical institutions, the platform reduces manual screening, improves enrollment rates, and supports clinicians in identifying relevant trials quickly as part of the patient care workflow.

“With Clinical Trial Matching, there was on average an 84% increase in enrollment to Mayo’s systemic therapy clinical trials for breast cancer.”

— Tufia Haddad, M.D., Head of Breast Clinic at Mayo Clinic

The challenge

The project needed to balance AI capabilities with patient privacy, regulatory compliance, and usability. Translating trial eligibility logic into intuitive, clinician-facing interfaces while ensuring accurate pre-screening and secure data handling posed both technical and design challenges.

Our impact

The platform streamlined trial matching by automating eligibility screening and pre-assessing patient records, allowing clinicians to focus on patient care. Pre-appointment screening increased opportunities for enrollment and improved the efficiency of care teams, supporting better clinical trial participation and outcomes.
